RENEWAL QUESTIONS
1. What are the continuing education requirements for renewal of my license?
The hours are broken down as 40 from Category 1 and 20 from Categories 1 or 2 for a total of 60 hours.
Of the 40 hours in Category 1, there are two special subject requirements: 4 hours in Ethics and the other 4 hours in either Child Abuse or Domestic Violence.

2. When does my current license expire?
All licenses, regardless of status, expire on April 30th of each odd-numbered year.
3. When will I receive the license renewal materials?
The Board will mail renewal materials to you on or before March 15th of each odd-numbered year. No other official reminder notices will be mailed. It is your responsibility to contact the Board office if you do not receive the renewal materials.
4. Can I download a license renewal application from the Board’s website?

5. What is the fee for an active or inactive license renewal?
The fee is $400 for an active renewal and $50 for an inactive renewal.
6. Is there a penalty if I fail to timely renew my license?
Yes, the penalty is an additional $200. To avoid paying the penalty, the application for renewal must be postmarked before May 1st if mailed, and in the Board’s office and date stamped by 5:00 p.m. on April 30th if hand-delivered.
7. Will the Board accept a personal check?
Yes. A personal check, a cashier’s check or money order made payable to the “Board of Psychologist Examiners” will be accepted.
8. What will happen if the Board finds a deficiency in my license renewal materials or I fail to enclose the fee?
The Board will return all renewal materials to you with a “Notice of Renewal Deficiency.” You must then correct the deficiencies and resubmit your renewal application. Resubmitted applications are still subject to the May 1st deadline.
9. After I send in my renewal materials, how will I know the Board received them and renewed my license?
The Board mails your new license receipt within one week of processing it. If you do not receive your renewal receipt within that timeframe, call the Board office immediately.
10. I understand I must provide both a business address and a residential address to the Board. May I use a post office box as my residential address?
No. You must provide an actual residential address. The Board does not disclose a licensee’s residential address unless it is the only address provided by the Board.
